Watercolour Flowers (Ready to Paint) (with free tracings)
by Wendy Tait
Search Press
ISBN 978-1-8444-828-49
Published February 2008 - Softcover - 48 pages - $17.95

Wendy Tait's book is full of beautiful examples of her soft watercolor flower paintings.  In this book, one of many of her painting books, she has included Poppies and Daisies, Roses, Clematis and Pansies, and Primroses among others.  There are nine tracing examples as well!  Her paintings are subtle and beautiful, with rather a lot of detail (which makes them beautiful!), but with the helpful step-by-step instructions, there is no reason you can't emulate her work.  Personally, I've given up trying to paint poppies, but after reading and seeing these examples, I might give it another go, that's how inspiring Tait's work is.  I adore her painting on the Contents page but there aren't any step-by-steps for it.  There is however a tracing, so you're on your own to play around.  I can't wait!  You can pick out bits and pieces from the tracings to experiment with so you're not overwhelmed initially.  As in any good instructional book, there are sections on the equipment, namely paints, paper, tools and brushes.
Conclusion - This book is great value for money.  Amazing flowers to introduce to your repertoire.
