Roy Finamore is a cookbook and lifestyle editor-turned-coobook-author with his new book "Tasty". I agree with Mr. Finamore that it's "baloney" that people don't have enough time to cook. Especially if you have a family to feed - how can you not? I always say, "If you can read a recipe, you can cook. No excuses". And, there are zillions of cookbooks to choose from. Mr. Finamore's book includes Breakfast; Lunch; Soup; Weeknight Dinners; Weekend Cooking; Sides; Salads; Nibbles; Condiments, and Desserts. Recipes I rather fancied are: Curried Chicken Salad; Lovely Lentil Soup; Meaty Lamb Shanks; Lasagna with Greens; Fennel Slaw; Smoked Trout Pâté; Eggplant Dip; Refrigerator Pickles (reminds me of the ones my mother used to make), and Plum Cake. Fairly basic dishes that anyone with a kitchen can attempt. After so many years editing cookbooks, I really thought his book would have been much more visually appealing. There are so few illustrations which I believe, are necessary to entice the most reluctant of cooks, and the book is therefore pretty blah-looking. No nutritional guides. Do read the "Notes for the Cook" as they're informative and good to know.
