Healthy Southwestern Cooking - less fat, low salt, lots of flavor
by Bob Wiseman
Northland Publishing
ISBN 0-87358-618-2
Published 1995 - Softcover - 158 pages - $14.95

Even though this book is ten years old, it's full of healthy recipes without that much fat or salt.  We're always on the lookout for recipes to help us eat a more healthy diet, and if you're into lowering your salt, fat, and cholesterol, yet still want to enjoy the spice of Mexican cooking, then you should give this book some consideration.  Author Bob Wiseman's trip to his doctor brought about it's publication.  There's nothing like finding out you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol to scare you into changing your diet.  If you do it before you're forced to seek medical help, so much the better.  Included in this book are Appetizers; Salads; Soups and Stews; Sauces; Side Dishes; Entrees; Breads; Pasta, and Desserts.  Traditional dishes such as Chili, Salsa, Frijoles, Enchiladas, and Brunuelos are also included.  A nutritional guide for each recipe has also been supplied - we don't have excuses for not eating properly anymore!  Most supermarkets these days carry a wide variety of chili and spices, both canned and fresh, so you shouldn't have problems obtaining certain ingredients.
Conclusion - A welcome addition to anyone's kitchen.

"Thanks for the two great reviews.  I always welcome folks who take the time to peruse my scribblings."  Bob Wiseman
