Squeezed - 250 Juices, Smoothies and Spritzers
by Jane Lawson

Published August 2004 - Softcover - 432 pages - $24.95

Yum, yum.  I've always wanted a great juicer (I still haven't got one and neither do I have a blender) and now my desire has been further heightened by this great book of juices and smoothies - I really have to save up for a good juicer before next summer.  There are hundreds of delicious and healthy combinations of fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, yogurts, and more.  Making your own healthy and tasty juice is so much better than anything you could get in the stores or restaurants.  Recipes like Red Grape and Cantaloupe Juice; Summer Detox; Apple, Celery, Cucumber and Basil Juice; Pear, Melon and Peppermint Juice, and the Kidney Cleanser will all help build your immune system, cleanse your system out, help clear your skin, get your vitamins, and basically, just boost your health in the most natural way.  You should drink your juiced concoctions immediately to avoid color change or separation, and even loss of nutritional value.  Can you imagine drinking fresh grape or apple juice?  Or orange or pear or canteloupe juice?  What about pineapple or beets or parsley?  You can make your juice go further by adding soda water or mineral water or crushed ice or cold tea or even ginger ale (I love the bubbles) or cucumber, as it's so juicy.  This is such a good book and will no doubt change the way you feel about fruit and vegetables (I know people who don't like either or, or both - imagine!) and how to get what your body needs from them.  Read the interesting information in the beginning of the book so you'll know about using cool products, what you're going to get from most items, and the do's and don'ts when juicing.  In these harried times, juicing might be quicker than cooking - see Dinner in a Glass.  Wonderful drinks to give to your children, too.  Go crazy, get healthy.  I've never been more convinced I need a juicer and a blender - I can't wait.
SQUEEZED may be purchased and/or ordered through your local bookstore.
Conclusion - Inspirational and a necessity in everyone's kitchen.
