Nuts.  Nutritiously good and delicious.  Nut or seed, I don't mind, I love them.  I love their taste and their versatility, be they in a cake or pie or as a snack, or even in a dessert.  Most nuts are rich in omega-3 acids, are a source of unsaturated fats, and in the case of Brazil nuts, contain selenium.  Other nuts have vitamins, folic acid, minerals, and are a source of protein.  Author/chef Laskin (he studied at the Cordon Bleu Academy in Paris) covers Spreads and Sauces; Vegetables and Salads; Baked Goods; Hot Dishes; Baked Treats, and Desserts.  Some of the more unusual recipes are: Nut Chutney (new to me) and Lobster with Chestnuts.  Some yummy-sounding recipes are: Couscous and Walnut Salad; Pasta Salad with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Pecans; Bacon and Lettuce Salad with Walnuts; Coconut Blueberry Cake, and Biscotti.  I have to say that I couldn't stop salivating at the picture of Caramel Walnut Mousse.  Provided you're not alletgic to nuts (what a bummer), I'm sure you're going to love these recipes.  Be adventurous and try some of them.
See my review of The Easy Way to Artisan Breads & Pastries, also by this author.
Beautifully presented and illustrated.  No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - A wonderfully different book.  Loved it.
