Mom's Secret Recipe File
edited by Chris Styler
Hyperion
ISBN 1-4013-0754-X
Published April 2004 - Hardcover - 334 pages - $17.95

This delightful collection of recipes are well-loved dishes from the mothers of some of today's best-known culinary artists.  All in the name of the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children.  A rich tapestry of dishes and cultures from around the world, like Frozen Cheese Souffle from Linda Perlman, or Sweet 'n Smoky Chicken from Jim Perdue, Parisienne Gnocchi from Jacques Pepin, Potato and Green Pepper Frittata from Rocco DiSpirito, and Palacinke (Sweet Crepes with various fillings) from Lidia Bastianich.  Along with the selection from each contributing chef, there is a brief biography as well as a snippet on Mama.  Apparently, most of the recipes have never been published before which makes this book so unique - all new dishes!  It's a delightful assortment of stories and recipes from homes and families from around the world.  Other contributors include Martin Yan, Todd English, and Nigella Lawson among others.  Some delicious-sounding recipes include Baked Chicken Thighs with Port and Fresh Mushroom Sauce; Homemade Tartar Sauce; Pork and Ginger Pot Stickers; and Cagoots, Potatoes, and Sun-dried Tomatoes.

Conclusion - A great idea for a worthwhile cause. BookBrowser
