Some people need all the help they can get (and that includes me!) when it comes to art journaling. Just trying to decide what type of art journal to create is exhausting. This lovely book is constructed in such a way that they've thought of almost everything to help us on our way. Twelve chapters with great ideas to get going, and to keep continuity with the same framework so we're not too distracted. You are, of course, allowed to mix and match to your heart's content. I love their message at the start of the book: "We keep materials and equipment very basic, because it's not about what you have, it's about what you do!" They give an example of a basic journaling kit so your workspace can be portable, as it were. If you choose to include your own personal life journey in your journal, there's help with that too. There is so much info given that you're bound to find more than a few gems of inspiration to either get started or start up again. Painting, writing, collecting paper for collaging, repurposing, mark-making, images, drawing and writing, and more! Chapter 4's opening paragraph has pertinent wording we should all adopt: "You don't need anyone's approval, nor do you need their permission to be who you are or to become who you want to be". With so many prompts, ideas, examples, beautiful photos, I know I won't run out of ideas on how to do art every day!
