I love Carol Burnett.  She brought so much laughter and fun into my life, and she still does.  Over the years, we the audience, came to "know" our favorites, but of course, we never really know them.  Ms. Burnett however, seems to have been the exception as she came into our living rooms to deliver an uplifting jolt of laughter each week.  She's like an old friend.  In this book she very graciously shares her memories and laughter with us, and it is full of anecdotes about her life, the people she met, friends and family (Nanny sounds like a hoot), funny incidents, and all told in her indomitable way.  It's rather like sitting down with Carol Burnett for a cup of tea and a chat with a lot of chuckles along the way.  Carol Burnett tells us succinctly of her start on the stage in New York and how she eventually ended up with her own 11-year television comedy show.  Stars like Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Lyle Waggoner, and Vicki Lawrence bring back memories, as do the numerous special guest stars.  Guests on the show or on her specials include the likes of Carol Channing, Lucille Ball, Julie Andrews, Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Elizabeth Taylor, Jim Nabors, and many more.  Of course who can forget the wonderful Bob Mackie costumes which Ms. Burnett also talks about?  I loved the Cary Grant anecdote — strange how things happen.  Ms. Burnett also made movies but preferred doing her television shows and stage work.  Any way we get to see Carol Burnett is a good way in my book.
What a chapter "A Girl Named Kathy" is.  Please read it everyone.
Conclusion - A delightful peek into Carol Burnett's life and career.  A real pager turner and a huge barrel of laughs.
