If only we knew more shortcuts in the kitchen.  Tricks of the trade as it were.  This very helpful book will become an invaluable aide in your kitchen.  Firstly, we're given Essential Equipment; Nice but Not Totally Necessary Equipment; Essential Cupboard, and Essential Fridge and Freezer.  All things to help you become more proficient in your culinary skills.  Things like mixing bowls, rolling pin, herbs and spices, oils, tortillas, and chocolate, among other stuff.  New techniques you can try are Aerating; Brian Marie Baking (Café Latte Cheesecake); Boning; Carmelizing; Deglazing (Chicken Breasts with Balsamic and Apples); Freezing (Lime and Mint Granita), and Poaching (Poached Pears in Spicy Ginger Sauce).  Who knew there were so many ways of preparing and cooking food?  We're also given Menu Suggestions with each recipe.  No nutritional guides and illustrated.
Conclusion - Extremely helpful to any novice cook.
