Rachael's Yum-o! web community is something I've been striving to do for a long time.  I too believe that children should be taught how to cook, especially in school.  Parents and children can also send in their favorite recipes to the website as well as look for healthy recipe ideas to try themselves.  This umpteenth book of Rachael's is basically to encourage kids to cook, or at least to help out in the kitchen, and more importantly, "The mission of Yum-o! is to empower kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking."  Ms. Ray offers Rise and Dine!; Lunch Boxes That Rock and Snack-Attackers; It's All in the Numbers, and Dinner Time!  It's wonderful to see so many recipes using wholewheat, whole-grains, lots of fruit and vegetables, and even "fat."  I'm totally with Rachael about moderation - see my book on common sense.  Recipes to try with the kids (any kids will do) include: Super-Size Healthy Breakfast Sandwiches; "Instant" Oatmeal (great idea); Lunch Box Fun-Due (another good idea); Chicken and Asparagus Wrap (reader recipe); Lady Bug Pizzas; Creamy Tuna with Tarragon and Egg Noodles; Buffalo Chicken Chili, and Shrimp and Shells with Pancetta and Peas.  There are things even the little ones can do to help, which Rachael lists with the recipes.  Get everyone involved - Mom's are not slaves.
