I haven't had French toast in longer than I can remember, so it was a wonderful surprise stumbling across this book.  Lots and lots of French toast recipes to dream about — for breakfast.  However, I discovered that this book not only offers breakfast recipes, but ones suitable for any meal.  Donna Kelly has taken French toast to a whole new level, and offers "toasts" for Family Favorites, Specialty, Special Occasion, Casseroles (toast as a casserole? I asked myself), Savory Entrées. and Desserts.  And as a treat, we're given recipes for Specialty Syrups and Sauces.  Kelly also offers advice on breads, eggs, and storing toast.  Personally, I like the good old-fashioned classic French toast for breakfast, and the thought of putting syrup and/or butter on top of a piece of already-fried-in-butter-toast, is nauseating.  That's just me.  I rather liked the idea of making "waffle style" French toast as a nice change.  I fancied these recipes: Eggs Benedict Stacks; Cinnamon Craving; Brie and Apple Stuffed (sounds yummy); Huevos Rancheros Stacks (heavenly); Apple Nut Stuffed (would double as a dessert!), Christmas Morning Casserole (interesting idea); Crab Strata Supreme, and Savory Cheddar Crusted.  I would hate to see the calorie count for Surprise Inside.  It's not necessary and not healthy to have all that fat!  The gag factor also applies to the Orange Sunshine recipe.  Breads used include Pumpernickel, French bread, challah, white bread, English muffins, multi-grain, and pita bread among others.
Gorgeous illustrations.  No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - Interesting.
