Tacos are the best on-the-go food.  They're quick and easy to assemble, they travel well, and are easy to eat.  Not to mention they're delicious.  I never thought much beyond a tortilla filled with fresh salads or even refried beans, cheese, onions, or whatever else you fancy.  Shelley Wiseman's book changed my basic ideas of tacos, and she's opened up a whole new world for me.  Happily for me, Wiseman says she's "stayed clear of the commercial hard-shelled tacos that seem to have been invented by the U.S. food industry a generation ago" that appear to be just large chips; difficult to eat without messing all over the place.  If you want to make your own tortillas, you're in luck because Ms. Wiseman tells us how, and offers different flavors to add, like black bean flavor; chile flavor, or cilantro flavor.  In this book you'll find many recipes to expand your taco fillings repetoire.  I know I desperately need ideas, and I found many, some of which are authentic Mexican recipes from Wiseman's friend's or colleagues or from her own experience from living in Mexico.  Right off the bat, your refried beans will never be bland or ordinary if you use her Spicy Refried Bean Tacos recipe—it's got tequila and salsa in it!  Some of her recipes that I'll have to try include: Spinach and Mushroom; Lobster and Mango Salsa; Octopus Tacos with Picked Jalapeños; Olives and Capers; Tacos with Pork in Green Sauce; Grilled Pork; Grilled Garlic-Marinated Skirt Steak, and the Breakfast Burrito.  There are also drinks to try, like Fruit Coolers, Atoles (chocolate of fruit) or even mini Quesadillas.  I do fancy trying the lime-chipotle mayonnaise, and I've made her pickled onions and they're easy and delicious!
Illustrated.  No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - Very tempting meals for the family, and great ideas to serve at informal dinner parties.
