Southwest Lite - Full Favors, Healthy Cooking
by Bob Wiseman
Northland Publishing
ISBN 0-87358-878-9
Published March 2005 - Softcover - 122 pages - $16.95

Another interesting and appealing cookbook by Bob Wiseman - you can eat healthily while enjoying flavorful food from the Southwest.  Mr. Wiseman has been at it for years and kindly shares his culinary findings with us.  As well as the fun recipes, he's also included nutritional facts for those watching their calories, fat, cholesterol, salt, fiber, and carbs.  He covers appetizers, salsas, soups and stews, salads, main meals, vegetables, desserts and more.  You can mix and match the recipes to make a complete Southwestern dinner and most ingredients are readily available.  A mailorder list is also given for those wishing to use authentically Southwestern spices from places like Arizona, New Mexico, and California.  Some of the recipes that attracted me include Festival Spread, Hawaiian Cowboy Salad, Grilled Pork Rib Caldo, and Curried Tuna Salad.  Some of the recipes have quaint little anecdotes that go with them, others don't.
Conclusion - A great little cookbook and it will come in very handy.

"Thanks for the two great reviews.  I always welcome folks who take the time to peruse my scribblings."  Bob Wiseman
