This is a sister-book to Stir-Fries, which I have also reviewed here. They have the same layout and are easy to read. This book is also about ten years old but don't let that deter you. Some things in life, like good food, are timeless. With winter rapidly creeping up on us, it's comforting to know there are even more wholesome and hearty dishes to keep our tummies full. The soups can either be a meal on their own or used to compliment other dishes on your menu. Of the soups and stews in this books, you have your choice between thick and nourishing, and light and flavorful, and with over 60 recipes between the covers, there are more than enough to go around. Some take hours to cook while there are others you can make in a snap. Personally, I prefer soups and/or stews that take a while to prepare as I love the mingling of flavors. Soups that caught my eye to try are Tuscan Sausage and Bean Soup, Southwestern Bean Soup with Cornmeal Dumplings (a whole meal in itself), and Cheese Soup with Jalapeno Pesto (a little heavy on the calories is this one). Of the stews, I fancied the Mideastern Lamb Stew with Couscous. There are many more soup recipes than there are stews. This book is also beautifully illustrated.
