The Sneaky Chef - Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids' Favorite Meals
With all the talk these days of the bad eating habits among children and increasing cases of diabetes among kids, it's no wonder a book like this hit the bestseller list immediately it was published. I would have thought that all concerned mothers would have snuck in healthy foods for their children any way they could. We know kids need vitamins, fiber, whole grains and more, so here's your answer to how to get your children to eat well without even knowing it. Author Missy Chase Lapine's own children's picky eating habits drove her to come up with ways to get her kids to eat healthy food and not what they wanted to eat. We've all seen how children try to manipulate mealtimes, so with the recipes in this book, this can now be different in your home. Contents include: Breakfast Recipes; Lunch Recipes; Snacks; Dinner; Treats, and Drinks. Try these on your kids, and by using "Make Ahead Recipes", you'll be feeding them well in no time: Masterful Mac 'n' Cheese; Crunchy Chicken Tenders; Maxed Out Meatloaf; Sneaky Baked Ziti; Brainy Brownies, and Say Yes to Sorbet. "Make Ahead Recipes" example: White Puree (cauliflower, zucchini, and lemon juice). I found the "psychology" of feeding kids good food, and food in general, a bit much to sift through - the first 90 pages! There is also useful information about food and its benefits, as well as nutritional information on any number of foods. Few illustrations and no nutritional guides (odd!), but there are Nutritional Highlights for each recipe. Remember, you're the boss.
