Make It Fast; Cook It Slow - The Big Book of Everyday Slow Cooking
by Stephanie O'Dea
Hyperion
ISBN 978-1-4013-10042
Published October 2009 - eBook - $12.99

I stumbled upon this book while looking for a cookbook from my online library.  I thought I would try a cookbook as an eBook to review.  While this book does not have color photos, you can see photos on slow cooking blogger Stephanie O'Dea's website, www.crockpot365.blogspot.com.  "Easty-to-Make Recipes - Healthy - Gluten-free - Inexpensive and Delicious", it says on the cover!  Her suggestions in the Introduction are great ones as far as saving money, time, making the most of your forgotten freezer items, etc.  Even though she's not a trained cook, her trials and errors, in my opinion, make her a "cook".  Personally, I'm a little afraid of crockpots and slow cookers (mainly the leaving something "on" for hours at a time scares me) and have never used one.  However, O'Dea's hints and tips have changed my mind.  I think.  (I'll need a new kitchen with some counter space though.)  It would appear there is very little you can't make in a crockpot, and the categories in her book include: Beverages; Appetizers; Breakfast; Baking; Side Dishes; Beans; Pasta and Casseroles; Soups and Stews; Seafood; Poultry; Meatless Mains; Meat; Take-out Fake-out; Desserts, and Fun Stuff.  With more people going gluten-free, these recipes may make your life a lot easier.  Some of her recipes I fancy are: Black Bean Goat Cheese Dip; Overnight Breakfast Potatoes and Sausage; Honey Lentils; Basic Chili; Borscht; French Onion Soup and Jamaican Salmon.
Conclusion - A huge amount of recipes to choose from.  An easy transition to healthy eating and living.
