Sea Food - Healthy and Delicious Recipes from the Deep
by Kay Scarlett
Laurel Glen
ISBN 1-59223-275-2
Published September 2004 - Softcover - 400 pages - $16.95

Another delightful "little" book in this series which is every bit as enticing as the others.  Seafood, which usually scares me off, offers winter and summer dishes, everyday meals, one-dish recipes, as well as fancy fish and starters.  There is also a section on preparing, storing, and buying fish which is extremely helpful to those of us not too confident when it comes to working with seafood.  Recipes that appealed to me include: Sole Normande; Kedgeree; Gumbo; Shrimp Jambalaya; Asian Shrimp and Noodle Salad; Fusilli with Tuna, Capers, and Parsley; Mild Indian Shrimp Curry; Fish Smothered with Curry Sauce; and Creamy Garlic Seafood.  Each recipe is beautifully illustrated with a mouth-watering picture.  Another recipe I am keen on trying is Seafood Mornay (I like one-pot dishes).  Smoked Trout Pâté is another favorite of mine that I've been making for years, so it was pleasing to find another recipe (I've lost many of my old recipes), and ditto for Sardine Patties, only I prefer using canned mackerel, when you can find it.  One of my all-time favorite seafood dishes is Moules Marinières (pg 54), which is also included.  Other titles in this series that I've reviewed are: Veggie Food, Comfort Food, Bowl Food, and BBQ Food - check them out.  If you're unsure as to what to make, peruse the index for inspiration - there are over 150 recipes!
Sea Food may be purchased and/or ordered through your local bookstore.
Conclusion - A must-have book in your kitchen.
