I love seeing what other people can make of something old, especially in homes.  For those of us who know about hand-me-downs, reusing old items for new purposes, not wasting anything, these hard times we find ourselves in aren't that bad.  For others who live with the latest and greatest, not so much.  This book will really appeal to the former, those who like and enjoy making the most of everything they already have or can find.  And, the greener you are, the better.  Realizing where we stand as far as sustainability and conservation is concerned, will stand you in good stead when re-doing your home.  And best of all, reusing items dramatically cuts the cost of redecorating.  Using his Grandma as inspiration, Randy Florke in his book offers ways to decorate not only the busiest rooms, but all spaces including an office and outdoors.  He makes use of old mirrors, shelves, wood (for flooring), glassware, containers, beds, stoves, plates, etc., and turns them into "new" and repurposed items.  I liked the way that in some cases, old and new are balanced.  It's a wonderful thing to be able to make the most of what you have or can acquire for little cost, and then use in other ways to enhance your home and the environment.  He even talks about which paint to use so as not to impact our surroundings.  He also offers very useful Resources with web addresses so you can do your own scouting around.  Some of the rooms I really loved are on these pages: page 16 Kitchen; pages 48/49 Kitchen; pages 106/107 Bedroom; page 140 Bathroom, and page 161 Outdoors.
Conclusion - Truly useful if you want to do your bit for the planet, and to live as healthily and aesthetically beautiful as possible.
