I don't get the Food Network so I didn't know who Robin Miller was. I was drawn to the "quick" and "simple" in the title of her book. She says of this book, that the goal of it is "to give you a variety of strategies for getting weeknight meals to the table without fussing, stressing, or spending a lot of time doing it." Her quick aspect includes Meal Kits (which you partially make ahead of time and just pick up where you left off come meal time), Bank a Batch (cooking more and freezing the excess), Slow Cook It, Morph It (transform the doubled-up half of the ingredients into a different dish), Have It Your Way (ingredient swapping), 5 Ingredients or Less (many of her recipes have 5 or less), and The Quick Fix Recipe Index - a great turn-to helper, especially the Marinades, Sauces, and Other Toppings - easy inspiration just looking through the list. Her contents include: Soups and Starters; Pasta and Risotto; Chicken and Turkey; Pork and Ham; Beef; Fish and Shellfish; Side Dishes and Salads, and Desserts. I fancied these recipes: Cream of Asparagus Soup; Pasta Shells with Roasted Artichoke Hearts and Broccoli; Chicken with Eggplant, Capers, and Black Olives; Parmesan-Sage Pork Loin; London Broil with Balsamic Onion Rings; Braised Trout with Bacon and Mushrooms, and Orange-Poached Pears with Fudge Sauce. There are so many recipes in this book that you'll not be stumped for what to make for a long time. I liked the mix and match aspect of this book - a very useful idea.
Partially illustrated. No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - A very useful and inspiring cookbook.
