Oh, how I love cookbooks. They are so inspiring and this one is no exception. With 150 recipes to choose from, you'll not be at a loss as what to make. With so many cooking shows on the go it would seem as though we're swamped with recipes, but my guess is that this is a subject that won't stop growing. Every few months a new favorite recipe appears, some are here to stay, others perhaps not. This book is divided into Starters; Soups (perfect for winter which is just around the corner); Salads; Main Dishes; Side Dishes; Breakfast and Brunch; Breads, and Desserts. Pretty comprehensive. Dishes I found appealing include "Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Bacon", "The Lentil Soup", "Pasta with Asparagus Lemon Sauce", "Onion, Bacon, and Ricotta Tart", "Braised Beef Short Ribs Chinese Style", "Cauliflower with Garlic and Paprika", and "Butterscotch Custard". This book would make a delightful and very practical gift to anyone who loves to cook. There aren't any nutritional guides but a helpful "note from our test kitchen" accompanies the recipes. Tips abound, too. Not fully illustrated.
