What Remains - A Memoir of Fate, Friendship & Love
by Carole Radziwill
Scribner
ISBN 0-7432-7694-9
Published September 2005 - Hardcover - 265 pages - $25.95

This is a tragi-story of a young woman from a working class background who made it in New York, and who met and married a prince.  Her late husband was Anthony Radziwill, son of Lee Radziwill, the sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.  Having worked at ABC News, Carole travelled widely and accomplished some great things and had been involved in covering some of the most important stories of the time.  Upon meeting her future husband, her world was about to change, radically.  They discover he has cancer and all that that involves - pretty scary stuff.  Their weekends in the Hamptons and friendships with JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, her close friend, is vividly described.  She takes the reader through the arduous reality of caring for someone you love and who is dying from cancer - the drugs, the worry, the happy times - all of it.  She describes the awful waiting on Martha's Vineyard the night John and Carolyn and Lauren, were supposed to fly in.  It's interesting to observe another's life where we learn that life's not always about finding your prince!
Conclusion - At times heartbreaking but very moving.
