I know only a few Polish dishes. I should know more as we had Polish friends way back when. This delightful little book is crammed with recipes that have spanned generations, foods that are comforting, foods that are traditional, and food that is tasty. Sounds good to me! The photos are really lovely and just looking at them made my mouth water and my palate tickle. The book covers these categories: Appetizers and Salads; Soups and Soup Garnishes; Entrées and Side Dishes; Pierogi, and Sweets and Pastries. I love that the ingredients for each recipe are printed in red, which makes them stand out and really easy to read. Some recipes are accompanied by Tips which are helpful. Now, the recipes that jumped out at me include: Crepes with Sauerkraut and Mushrooms; Marinated Beet Salad (a variation of my own "pickled" beets); Cool Summer Barszcz (Beet Soup—looks more like a meal!); Cabbage Rolls; Sausage and Cabbage (reminds me of a German dish with sauerkraut and bratwurst) and a few pierogi recipes. The Apple Squares look absolutely delicious, as do the Holiday Nut Rolls. None of these recipes appear to be difficult to make and neither do they seem to call for unheard of ingredients.
Illustrations are beautiful. No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - Good wholesome food sure to fill even the hungriest of tummies.
