This is a cookbook with a difference, and because I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains, I was naturally attracted to it. The book features recipes of a wholesome and hearty nature from the wilds of Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Utah. We are taken to remote places where the last thing you'd expect to see is a restaurant. However, restaurants there are, and along with many fun photographs, there are unusual recipes, like: Pan-Fried Trout and Hash Browns (looks good), Chilled Emmett Cherry Soup, and Chili Corn Custard. Recipes to try are: Beef Tenderloin Steaks with Mustard and Tarragon Sauce; Grilled Sun Ranch Chicken with White Barbecue Sauce, and Vintage Signature Chocolate Truffle Torte (looks fantastic). A couple of the eating establishments whose recipes are featured in the book, are Log Cabin Café at Silver Gate, Montana, and The Park Café at St. Mary, Montana. Some places sell their goods online. I think authors Chase and Amy have produced a really unsual yet alluring cookbook, great for travelers and cooks alike.
Beautifully illustrated with both food pictures and local sights, homes, restaurants, animals, etc. No nutritional guides. The only thing missing from this book is a map.
Conclusion - A gem of a book and well worth investing in.
