A gorgeous book filled with delicious Caribbean recipes, travel snippets, and stories from "island" celebrities such as Michael Douglas, Alfre Woodard, Kenny Chesney, Tom Hanks, Raven Symone, Katie Couric, and Tim Robbins will delight you. As an island lover myself, and also working on a cookbook to help women and children who flee abusive homes, I was particularly drawn to this book. It's beautifully illustrated with island paradises like Bermuda, Cuba, Bahamas, the Caymans, Jamaica, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Maarten, and of course, Grenada among others. Sumptuous dishes featured include Seared Indian-Spiced Scallops and Shrimp; Jerk-Spiced Herb-Crusted Rack of Baby Lamb with Smoky Carrot-Lamb au Jus; Shrimp and Raw Green Mango Salad; Grilled Swordfish Steak with Lemon-Caperberry Butter Sauce; Lobster Curry (I have to try this - my two favorite things!); Grenadian Spice Cake with Rum-Marinated Pineapple; Pasta, Smoked Fish, and Cream, and Stuffed Red Snapper. The Baked Banana Pudding sounds mouthwateringly delicious as does Island Crab, Mango, Ground Nuts, and Cucumber Salad with Mango Vinaigrette. Proceeds from the book go to the Grenada Relief Fund (www.grfund.org) to help the island recover from the Hurricane Ivan disaster. Wonderful and very tempting photographs.
