Low-Carb Slow Cooker Recipes
Better Homes and Gardens (Meredith Books)
ISBN 0-696-21895-X
Published December 2003 - Softcover - 256 pages - $14.95

Now, a slow cooker is something I've yet to try but upon a couple of friends' strong recommendations, and a kind donation of the cutest little slow cooker, that's exactly what I intend doing seeing there is this new health craze, counting carbs.  Too many carbohydrates has long been known to aid weight gain, so now, there's been a turnaround and we have to be more careful.  This book explains it succinctly and in understandable detail in the introduction.  They've supplied a table with carb and calorie counts for fruits and vegetables, which is all good and well, but where do they give us an idea of how many carbs per day?  A guide similar to the suggested calorie intake per your height and weight we all got used to would work.  I assume this is all guesswork and just an indication.  There are over 200 recipes to chose from.  This is not a glossy picture book but it's full of healthy meals, which, along with good common sense and self-control, will go towards a healthier you.  Some of us need all the help we can get (me included!) and each recipe has a clearly labeled carb count.  Cooking meals in the slow cooker really makes the cooking process so much easier and these meals should appeal to meat-lovers too.
Conclusion - Perhaps a necessary addition to our recipe collections.
