Thankfully, as author Michele Anna Jordan points out, "Life has never been the same."  [Referring to attitudes towards pasta over the last few decades.]  If only we could all make our own pasta at home, then we wouldn't have to eat the tasteless dried stuff on supermarket shelves.  Even the "fresh" pasta on offer doesn't taste as you'd expect.  Jordan points out the wide variety of pasta shapes and sizes and which goes best with what sauce.  Her contents offer us: Soups; Salads; Pantry Pastas; Easy Pasta Dishes; Simple Pastas, and Pasta for Weekends.  Not many clues as to what's on offer, so here are recipes I found interesting and/or mouthwatering: Zucchini, Sausage and Orecchiette in Spicy Beef Broth (Soups); Orzo with Summer Squash Confetti, Basil and Olive Oil (Salads); Pasta with Smoked Salmon, Scotch, Cream and Capers (Pantry Pastas); Farfallone with Mozzarella Fresca, Green Olives, Prosciutto and Celery (Simple Pastas), and Easy Cheese Ravioli with Caramelized Onion and Winter Squash Sauce (Pasta for Weekends).  Known to have made my own fresh pasta and ravioli, I was particularly interested in the Pasta Essentials chapter.  There's always something new to be learned.  I also loved the butter seasoning recipes.  The General Index is helpful when you've forgotton what to make using a certain pasta.
Beautifully illustrated.  Nutritional guides given.
Conclusion - This book will help take the guesswork out of planning an Italian dinner party.
