Published November 2010 - Hardcover - 464 pages - $34.95

Wow, what a huge collection of recipes!  This is a great way to enjoy the many changes in food preparation and selection (more from farmers' markets, less meat, more humanely-raised meat, etc.) these days.  This book is jam-packed with interesting recipes, very useful tips, lots of menus to try out, short-cuts, techniques, and more.  The recipes come to us in months and include anything and everything from fish to chili to vegetables to Italian pastas, casseroles to cakes, ribs, quinoa, pizza, salads, desserts, soups, Asian dishes, quick dishes, burgers, pies, sandwiches, stews, sauces, side dishes, cheesy things, grains, and many others too numerous to list.  We're also treated to regional dishes, dinner menus, holiday menus, their great buying guide (very useful and informative), international dishes, interesting articles, wine information, ingredient info, and more.  One of the best features for many of us struggling to buy and eat good food, are the "Budget Cooking—Feed 4 for less than $10" ideas.  You also get to check your own techniques and to make sure you're aware of myths or mistakes in cooking.  Some of their recipes that appealed to me include Greek Chicken and Barley Salad; Beef Rendang; Asparagus and Smoked Trout Frittata; Latin Baked Chicken; Quick Greek Couscous with Shrimp, and Chicken Stuffed with Spinach, Feta, and Pine Nuts.  I also enjoyed articles like the Mark Bittman/Jamie Oliver interview, A Haitian-American Tradition, An Italian-American Tradition, and the very educational Buying Guide.  Thankfully they give a nutritional guide analysis; when you first see the high sodium numbers like 890 or 912, it's alarming.  Checking out the analysis calmed me down.
Partially illustrated.  Nutritional guides are given.
Conclusion - A fantastic variety of recipes.  Surely more than enough for everyone, plus this book is an invaluable source of information for any cook.
