We know healthy eating habits begin in childhood, so it makes sense to start our children off on the right road to eating properly.  Catherine Atkinson's book offers helpful information on what growing children need with regards to protein, carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables (sadly lacking in many a child's diet), calcium and iron, omega 6 and omega 3 fats (omega 6 found in sunflower and safflower, seeds and nuts, and omega 3 in fish) for healthy cell membranes.  And in the case of omega 3, healthy brain development as well as better learning and concentration abilities.  If fish isn't to your child's liking, try omega 3-rich eggs.  Also, the intake of sugar in children should be monitored, and careful note of sugar names such as sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose, corn syrup, hydrolysed starch, and invert sugar should be remembered.  [Stay away from aspartame as all costs!  Ed.]  Fats and salt, additives, excess sugar, etc., should be avoided.  These recipes cover Breakfast (Granola, Smoothie, Omelette, Brunch Bars - a great idea); Lunch (Creamy Vegetable Soup, Sticky Finger Ribs, Chicken Salad Wrap); Meat & Fish (Chilli con Carne, Creamy Chicken Korma, Rosti-Topped Fish Pie); Veg & Pasta (Easy Pasta & Cheese Sauce - call this mac 'n cheese and they'll come running - Turkey Meatballs and Rice, and Creamy Vegetable Crumble), and Desserts (Sticky Chocolate Bananas and Creamy Caramel Custard Pots) - who says eating good and healthy food can't be varied?  Eating healthily does not mean eating boring foods.  Parents are the boss of the house, not the children, therefore the bosses are not told what serve at mealtimes.  It's the other way around - pure common sense!  These recipes, incidentally, are perfectly fine for everyone, not just children.
Illustrated.  No nutritional guides but there are Nutritional Notes.
Conclusion - Great inspiration for parents who want healthy children.  Duh!
