I have neither a bullet journal nor a dot journal but I didn't let that stop me devouring this book.  It's full of creative elements to add to my particular art, which is anything I feel like doing on any given day.  I struggle to draw or come up with something original, and these little motifs will be a welcome addition to my art tags, my cards or even my regular art journals, and they make a nice change from stamping or using stickers.  "You can draw" I keep telling myself!  (I don't like coloring in though, so I'd be happy with monochromatic motifs.  And I love doodling.)  Artist/author Helen Colebrook's book is beautifully presented, starting off with some wise and encouraging words, Tools and Materials, and Getting Started (some great ideas) if you're just starting art journaling.  In her Design Library chapter (each with their own exercises to help you) there are Banners & Scrolls to consider using, Borders & Corners (fun!), Speech Bubbles, Arrows, Feathers, Hearts, Dream Catchers (they remind me of mandalas), Flowers (I'm always drawing and needing flowers), Cacti, Potted Plants, Planner Icons, Leaves, Nature, and SO much more.  More than enough to choose from and keep you going on your art journaling journey.
This book is a great source of reference for doodling ideas to fill in spaces on your pages.  Tag Helen on social media with your creations. #journalwithpurpose
