Jamie's Dinners - The Essential Family Cookbook
by Jamie Oliver
Hyperion
ISBN 1-4013-0194-0
Published November 2004 - Hardcover - 322 pages - $34.95

Jamie Oliver's enthusiasm for cooking is very infectious and he delights in sharing his cooking ideas in his books and television shows.  Here is another collection of recipes from Jamie with the aim of having families eating together and eating well at an affordable price.  Using more basic foods rather than the posh cuisine, these ideas are geared towards making everyone want to have a go in the kitchen.  He also has a chapter on Sandwiches which are popular the world over - now we have a larger choice of sandwhiches.  Now that Jamie's family has grown, he too has become more aware of eating healthily.  English food has always had a "not very appetizing" reputation but over the years, with innovative chefs like Jamie Oliver, things have radically changed.  He includes chapters on Salads, Soups, Vegetables, Pasta, Meat, Fish, and Desserts.  Also, a chapter on Five Minute Wonders with recipes like Salmon and Couscous, Parmesan Fish Fillets with Avocado Cress Salad, and Paprika Sirloin Steak Wrap.  I enjoyed his many uses of Pesto Sauce.  Jamie's been working on improving school dinners in Britain and that's a wonderful thing.  Can he do something about our schools?  You can visit Jamie's website for more information on this funky chef.
Conclusion - Another must-have cookbook.
