How We Eat - Appetite, Culture, and the Psychology of Food
by Leon Rappoport
ECW Press
ISBN 1-55022-563-4
Published May 2003 - Paperback - 224 pages

What an interesting book this is.  It sheds a whole new and brighter light on how and why we feed our faces the way we do.  Food is always something to get our attention and Leon Rappoport's in-depth take on this subject is a great way to understand and appreciate how our eating habits have evolved (or not), possibilities as to why we eat certain foods, why we get sick, and the possible reasoning (which we can change) behind it all.  Not only are there differences in eating habits from city to city, and from country to country, but also between family members.  The author sets about illuminating the wheres and why-fors of food, the religious and cultural differences, the health aspects, food for the military, home-cooked meals, and convenient foods.  There is of course, the whole contemporary mindset about eating, which I found particularly noteworthy.
Conclusion - Extremely interesting and useful. BookBrowser
