When you're pressed for space, time, and money, but your passion for your craft is intact, you'll make it happen.  This is exactly what the catering dudes did and it certainly worked for them.  The result, a superb reputation, a restaurant in L.A., and a book!  But, their story should be read to fully appreciate the journey their careers have taken.  The basis of their book is that "you don't need a tricked-out kitchen to make a nice meal" and "if all you have is a roasting pan or a skillet, there are a few dozen recipes you'll be able to cook straight off the bat".  Great news for those of us who don't have gourmet kitchens.  Their cookbook is categorized into utensil sections rather than the traditional Soups, Starters, Main Courses, etc.  They begin with the Bowl and what you can make in it (salads for example).  Then comes Skillets (frittatas and crêpes), the Dutch Oven and Soup Pot (White Wine and Tarragon Steamed Mussels or Slow-cooked Lamb Shanks in Pinot Noir - I'd love to try this at their restaurant someday!), the Roasting Pan (Balsamic Barbecued Baby Backs), and the Baking Dish (Vinny's Grandma's Coconut-Almond-Cornflake Bars).  Recipes I'd like to try include Blistered Zucchini Skillet Gratin, Grouper with Lemon-Caper Butter, and their Tri-Tips with Salsa Verdi.  Their recipes are not challenging and don't require hard-to-find ingredients.  Look out for the variations offered in some recipes.
Illustrated.  No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - The kind of book that would fit in any kitchen.  Essentially a no-nonsense cookbook.
