As you know, I don't usually review fiction, but this book is based on a true story and came recommended to me.  The story is about two young boys growing up in 1965, one who today would be diagnosed as having ADHD, and the other with muscular dystrophy and in a wheelchair.  Polar opposites, yet the best of friends.  They lived in Spokane, Washington, and the book is about their friendship, their goals, the school they attended, and their friends and families.  It's an enchanting story of two unlikely friends, their adventures and their sometimes scary antics.  Buoyed by the idea that David, in a wheelchair, with Lyle's help, will run again, we bounce along joining in in the lives of these people back in the sixties.  The spine of this story is anchored to the belief Lyle had in that he could attain his goals by following Jack Lalane's advice.  His mom watched Jack Lalane on television every morning, delivering his positive-thinking-and-doing message.  He was also intrigued by David being able to talk to God.  Their story will lift your spirits and if you're lucky, you'll shed a tear or two as you step back in time.

Conclusion - Uplifting and a delightful read.  I'd love to see the film.
