I first came across Colin Cowie a few years ago on one of Oprah's shows and was immediately drawn to his seemingly effortless style.  At the time he was putting together unbelievably wonderful weddings that just blew my mind.  Colin's style in this book of suppers is very definitely a style one can replicate without breaking the bank.  I liked his extraordinary use of anything-but-flowers (I'm allergic to pollen) as centerpieces and from now on will look with different eyes when shopping or flea-marketing.  It's amazing how subtle color-coordinating can be, à la Cowie of course, and how sophisticated everything then seems.  Cowie's recipes for superb meals promises they are almost all prepared in less than an hour thus leaving the host free to actually enjoy the evening with guests.  Whether you want to entertain in- or outdoors, you're bound to find something delectable in this book.  Stunningly illustrated throughout, I got more than one idea for my own future soirées.  The dishes are not outlandish, but they are upmarket and the kind of thing everyone can appreciate, without being pretentious.  Not only does he give hints and tips for food preparation, he also offers advice on music and wine, and much more.  I loved this book so much and he really is a man of style.  Visit Colin at his website at www.colincowie.com.  See my reviews of Colin's other books: "Effortless Elegance", Colin Cowie Weddings, and Colin Cowie's Extraordinary Weddings.
