Nothing says "homey" as the smell of freshly baked breads and muffins.  This beautiful book offers many tasty recipes to try when it comes to making your own bread and pastries.  Baking bread used to be a labor of love, but nowadays there are quicker methods, thankfully.  Whether it's bread you want to make, muffins, biscuits or pastries, you'll find something to make in this book.  Some of the recipes that sounded interesting are: Cinnamon-Peach Bread; Cinnamon-Carrot Bread; Cheesy Pepper Bread (mmmm); Sausage-Cornbread Muffins (sounds wonderful); Dilly Cheese Scones; Peach-Almond Scones; Cranberry-Apple Turnovers, and my favorite, Miniature Fruit Tarts(so beautiful!).  The Baked Onion Pastries sound intriguing, and certainly something different to serve as an appetizer.  The healthiest recipe I found was for Zucchini-Bran Bread, even though it also calls for white flour.  I did find three recipes that used whole-wheat flour.  I prefer using fresh ingredients, so I was disappointed when some recipes called for brownie mix, buttermilk biscuit mix, or pound cake mix.  The "quick" in Quick Breads and Pastries I suppose.
Beautifully illustrated.  No nutritional guides.
Conclusion - Very tempting recipes that will elevate your status as "bread-maker".
