Bowl Food - Comfort Food for People on the Move
Laurel Glen Publishing
ISBN 1-57145-831-X
Published September 2002 - Softcover - 400 pages - $16.95

These little books are fast becoming a few of my favorite recipe books.  Others in the range are Comfort Food (see my review), Sweet Food, Cool Food, Finger Food, and Quick Food.  Bowl Food has over 180 recipes and include dishes such as Fresh Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, Creamy Chicken and Peppercorn Pappardelle, Chicken Gumbo, Rogan Josh, and Asian-flavored Beef Stew.  The book is divided into the following sections, for a wonderful selection: Soups, Salads, Pasta, Rice, Wok, Curries, and One Pots, and all the recipes are beautifully illustrated.  I was particularly pleased to find the section on Curries which is something often forgotten about in so many cook books nowadays.  You're going to have to do a little pantry shopping for things like mirin (a type of sweet Japanese rice wine), galangal (type of ginger root), and kecap manis (soy sauce, only sweeter).  The big attraction for me is that you don't have thousands of plates and dishes to wash up after dinner.
BOWL FOOD may be purchased and/or ordered through your local bookstore.
Conclusion - The perfect addition to your cook book collection. BookBrowser
