I had no idea about the long history behind altering books into journals or into anything else you'd like, so reading all about what artists have been up to, was fascinating.  Again, I'm not too keen on the idea of glueing book pages together or splashing paint on book pages, but author Terry Taylor says it's okay.  But, this book is not only about working in old books, you can take literally anything you'd like to rework, and just go for it.  The book sections offer interesing ideas and projects to inspire you, whether you want to paint, collage or draw, along with useful tools and tips.  The Gallery on pages 76-79 is very interestng.  Other chapters include Boxes and Tins to breathe new life into (I love recylcing so these ideas are great).  There are Cards, Tags, and Games (I've just used a pack of playing cards and made something fun so this section appeals to me) which are gorgeous.  I have never thought of altering a puzzle!  There is a lovely idea on pages 106-109 which I want to revisit!  You can use business cards, key chains, postcards, or even clothing.  There is a lot of fun and art to make in this book, courtesy of a whole host of contributing artists.
